Schomberg Dominates Hockey Skills Competition
Submitted by Ray Tribe.
The best novice local league hockey players competed in the Beeton Hockey Day Skills Competition. Schomberg’s Novice Local League team won four out of the five skills competitions held before fans, players and parents.
Alicia Dow blasted into first in the Hardest Shot competition with a 35 mph slap shot. Jack Piper hammered in two goals in under 22 seconds during the Breakaway Race. Sam Degli Angeli left his competition spinning in circles as he rocketed through the 14 gate Obstacle Course. Lorne Peelar lead all the competition goalkeepers with a record of four Breakaway Saves out of six. Finally, Matteo Lovisotto anchored the entire team of five in the Relay Race.
By the end of the final lap, Schomberg had finished a full lap ahead of the closest team. Congratulations to Beeton who took the win in the Sprint Competition.
Alicia, Jack, Sam, Lorne and Matteo will be passing over their roles to their teammates when the Skills Competition moves to Schomberg for the February-20 Red & White Tournament.
